Inspired
by the redevelopment of the Ipswich Waterfront, the garden is designed for
a professional couple, who work hard but enjoy their free time away from
the daily routine.
Just
as the Port of Ipswich offers a haven for boats and a leisure space for
the town, this garden gives a place to relax after work, to unwind and to
entertain friends.
This
garden is an outside room, a tranquil space away from the bustle of work.
Carpets of plants contrast with the strong lines of the walls and paving.
A cherry tree provides shade and gives a froth of blossom in Spring.
Steel
obelisks, enclosing columns of ivy, and steel planters give a vertical
element to the garden, while the raised beds bring flowering plants closer
to eye level and give informal seating.
